DEXTERITY: affects speed of striking, defense against striking and clinch techniques.

IMPROVING AND DECREASING SKILLS

Increasing stats

The only way a player has to increase his character's stats is through training, which is done in a Training Camp.  Every time a tournament or venue is done, the fighter has a chance to train for 3 weeks with a training camp. These are made UP of a team of fighters and trainers with different skills and abilities, and the increase of stats will depend on who the fighter trains with.
As a fighter trains, he will gaing experience along with his increase in stats. These points will allow him to unlock new skills and bonuses from the different Skill Trees.

Decreasing stats

Fighters do rarely get out of a fight unscathed. They get punched, kicked, kneeed and elbowed, and subjected to strain on their junctures on each grappling move. Thus, a fighter will mostly come out of a fight with his skills reduced by a number which will be affected by three factors:

 - WIN/LOSE: A winning fighter will lose less skill than a losing fighter, but he will also earn less xp.
 - FIGHT PROGRESS: Every time the fighter gets hit or grappled, there will be a chance that he loses some skill related to the point of impact or tension. I/e: a low kick to the knee could cause him to lose speed, a punch to the head will affect his endurance, and so on. These changes will not only affect him after the
fight, but also during the fight itself.
 - MATCH LENGTH: When the fight is over, a fighter will have a chance to recover some of the skill lost during the fight. This will be directly related to the match length; the more time a fight goes on, the less chances a fighter will have to recover his full skills. That will not only force a player to train dilligently, but will also reward a fast K.O. or submission.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON DAMAGE AND XP: Usually, when a fighter loses he learns more than if he wins (about his weaknesses, his lacking areas, etc), thus a losing fighter will earn more xp points than a winning fighter. This might seem like a good way to an early-on xp gain, but it would come with a lose of other skills and Heart, and even the risk of injury, plus a negative record and recovery time that will affect heavily the choice of teams to train with.

SKILL TREES

As a fighter progresses and earns experience in combat, he will get to spend points on five different skill trees (Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu and MMA). These five skill trees will not only give the fighter new moves to show off in the ring, but will also improve some stats and even affect the damage and
strain done by his actions.

KICKBOXING: Covers all fields related to kicking and punching, including some boxing skills and bonuses. It's affected mostly by Speed and Dexterity.
MUAY THAI: Covers the use of clinching, elbows, knees, and adds some serious modifiers to the power inflicted by blows. It's affected mostly by Power and Dexterity.
WRESTLING: Mostly throws and ground control, this is a skill tree that will mostly focus on control and attrition. Affected mostly by Power and Technique.
JIU-JITSU: The study of submissions and control from the bottom, very deadly at high levels. Affected mostly by Speed and Technique.
MMA: Covers all things related to the additions made by Vale Tudo and modern MMA, including the deadly ground-and-pound and lean-and-punch techniques. It's affected by all techniques.

Each skill tree has two distinctive branches. The top branch will feature new moves and combos; the low branch will focus on bonuses and increments of stats during the fight. The wise fighter will have to search for a balance of skills, combined with some specialization to help him get the upper hand.
